Trioxane

Trioxane fuel tablets are recommended for all participants.

• These are the little fuel bars that were used to heat meals in the days before the MRE heaters. They are still wildly useful and nice since MRE heaters never really give off enough energy to heat an entrée and also warm up water for a hot drink.
• Also keep in mind that if you are lucky/clever enough to quarter yourself in a tent equipped with a woodstove, triox tablets make starting the wood stove a snap.
• Lastly, if you manage to get your hands on some East Bloc C-ration type chow (either by trading with POWs or just luck into getting some another way) you will find yourself much happier with the canned entrees if they are warmed up.
• You can get 3 packs of the triox tablets at many surplus stores for less than $1. Get some of them, you will be happy you did.
