Fieldcraft Weekend February 27 and 28 @ Cedar Creek.
Who: NATO forces
What: To familiarize and practice long range patrolling methods and establishment and conduct of patrol base operations
Where: Mark Twain National Forest Cedar Creek Ranger District
Directions to Cedar Creek
Take I-70 to Exit 137 and take J highway south through Millersburg continuing till you come to County road 354.
Turn right on 354 and follow it as it becomes narrower and narrower you will eventually come to a dead end with a turnaround. This is where we will be operating.
When: 0800 February 27-28. It is much better to be early to this event as it will involve a patrol that will leave without you. Patrol will step off NLT 0930
Why: The purpose of this event is to familiarize and asses competencies in patrolling in both day and night environments. Participants will also establish a patrol base to conduct operations from. In addition participants will practice the proper use of the PRC-77 radio and proper radio etiquette with a CEOI.
Gear required:
East Wind correct rucksack
Sleeping pad
Sleeping bag
Bivy or shelter half
Ability to carry 2 quarts of water
Canteen cup
Clothing appropriate for the weather (plan on cold)
Warm hat
Gloves or mittens
Red filtered flashlight (NO HEADLAMPS)
East Wind correct compass
East Wind correct uniform
Poncho or goretex.
Helmet (to mount NODS to)
It is important to pack what is on this list as many of these items are mission essential. A proper PCI will be conducted prior to step-off.
Cost: Cost for this event is the usual $25 and as usual includes food.
I plan to be on site Friday night along with the designated patrol leader and APL. Any are welcome out Friday night, just bring food for breakfast on Saturday.

I will be there Friday at 16:00. Gentlemen, there are valuable skills to be learned and honed here. The free world is resting on your shoulders.  We will be conducting operations out of our fully operational TOC. It should be a sight to see. |

I should be there, barring more complications. Unfortunantly I am unsure if I will have all my BW kit by then as I have had many unexpected expenses the last couple months.

I spoke too soon. My vans transmission died and I can't find one in any of the junk yards I can get out. No I have to sell it and buy another vehicle. We shall see how long and how much it takes. I still think I will make it, but I am probably not going to have all my german cold weather gear in.

ok, ok. were in, was just waiting to ake sure i ahve everythingelse all ready to go,,,,vehicles, etc. I am still waiting on a bit of my field gear to show up,,should be here any day now,,,if not i will figure something out. BTW...Ferret,,,,,DONE! Need to test radios in ferret to make sure i can xmit a rec fine,,,swayze,,,you want to come out with a mradio so we can trial it in the ferret sometime?
