The 315 RRC's TOE includes a freshly refurbished (October 1992) Hughes Probeye Thermal Imager unit. This is not at all like using NODs, is somewhat fragile, and it has unique operational requirements.
To use it in the field will pretty much require a certification from me, and you will want to understand how to use it if you intend to be in an OP with the unit, or to hide from it. There will be a comfortable, civilized training session at my house this coming Boxing Day.
26 December 2009 1900 - 2100 Mission, KS
I expect this to be no more than 1 hour in the house, then we'll go a few blocks away to a local park for another hour or so of practical work, looking at each other from a distance, through trees and so on.
The practical portion will last longer if more people show up. It will be at least somewhat cold, and might be snowy or otherwise inclement. We don't care. The outdoor portion will be held regardless of weather. There is some overhead shelter, but most of it will be outside, so dress appropriately.''
Dinner will not be provided. It starts this late so you have time to eat and travel.
Respond here if you are coming so we can get a count and plan accordingly. Please don't bother saying you are not coming. If you have to retract an RSVP, edit your original post. Instructions for the exact location (for those who don't already know where I live) will be sent you individually.
Before anyone asks, there will be additional opportunities to get training, but none are planned yet. I would expect them to be coincidental with the other general training events already planned.
