Also, I was looking up Von Reck shelters again, and found this interesting place:

Seems like a Von Reck is like the "6-man tent", but without the top two shelter halves, basically.

Speaking of von recks, I'm assuming you can make one out of 4 Austrian shelter halves just like the USGI ones, correct? It would just be a bit smaller...

I have that six shelter half set up. I've set it up several times at Cedar Creek. I was just telling Swayze about setting it up with an SHS heater in the center. It will sleep 4 with gear inside. 6 without gear inside. Swayze made the poles for the top 2 halves.

This last event I used my Belgian shelter half, it integrated just fine.  It's basically cut the same as the German ones and doubles as a poncho in the same manner. 

I'll have to snap up one of the Austrian ones, that seems like a logical progression.
