Winning/notes for smashing future norms:

BITCHIN table covers.
Individual uncomfortable stools
Officers and Troops in separate tents (granted, maybe when we're huge...)
Quoted 3-4 dishes daily for 40 persons... sounds about right!
Buckwheat Porridge and Stewed Beef FTW!  It looks just as terrible there as it does for us, so we're doing it right!
Buffet style serving line right in the mess tent (although monitored by the Kitchen staff, I imagine, so no one dickhead takes too much food).
Very fancy wooden plank floors!
Officer tent has a lot more room, but same tables and chairs, cleared center, with a wood stove and a coat rack.
Light and Dark bread options, but no Bleached White Bread.
Disposable dishes!  Granted, we're only out for 9 days, so even 9 days without washing, our mess tins can't get THAT dirty, but still... not a bad idea for fighting diseases, says the immunosuppressed guy.
TA-57 field phone, Still in use!  Glad to see it. (Page 4)
Trucks full of telephone poles with rocket engines.  Love it!
Little drinking cups full of local grass as a table decoration, win!

Good find!  Thanks for sharing!

That "sandwich" is interesting, kinda looks like aa grilled cheese, but with the cheese (and meat) on the outside.

As ex-cook this brings me fuzzy feelings of nostalgia.

I am now painfully aware the USA won the cold war due to our willingness to subsist on the crappiest food.
