Tstout's part 1 and 2 as well as Fallout's part 3 rec'd!

Lightroom 2 is freakin' awesome, by the way.  I've got most of the EB stuff I have received processed- tonight I'll do some NATO with a bit different color treatment- "tamer" than the modifications to the EB stuff, but still going for a more "film" look than pure digital pic colors.

I'm tentatively shooting for a EW Flickr upload Wed 1 April.  I want to balance volume of pictures and timeliness so we can show off to people who have been watching- gotta strike while iron's hot.

Assuming the USPS does its job, I'll be able to include Geoff's pics in that upload- I'm leaving them alone except for cropping to 5x7 for uniform presentation.

After this mad dash is over, I'm going to figure out a way to send all these files over the internet in a more efficient manner.  Rest assured guys, your efforts in getting me the files are speeding things up big time.

After the digital pic rush is over, I'll soup my 3-4 rolls of b&w and presumably start receiving files from folks with one-use cameras and other film cams as well.  That upload, as well as any digital stragglers, will be made in 2-3 weeks as a "second wave" for maximum promotional impact.

Thanks guys- keep 'em flowing!

Rec'd 2 from Stagg and 7 & 8 from Fallout!  I'll be adding a bunch to the flickr once I get done with some last-minute tax stuff from work (takes up next couple evenings)

I love how the East Bloc gravitated toward the ditch for chow instead of the nice ready room.

Film scans from K.Cox, Stagg's film, 7-9 from fallout, and CSM's stuff all DL'd.

Time for Process-a-Thon Two...

(We're up over 1.2gb total pictures so far...900+ images...of which I bet 350 will be on the flickr, possibly more)

Rec'd Houli's sets 3&4...good...NATOs got a bit of catching up to do in quantity!  (there are actually more NATO shots, but many cover the same events and as such would be redundant.  That's a good thing from the photo editor's perspective though, because I get to pick the best shots from ~20 instead of ~5.)

My advice to everyone for next year, as well as TRAINING EVENTS, would be to pack a single use aka "disposable" camera (Not a single-use digi, but film!).  Light, compact, and cheap.  They also produce very "period" looking photographs.

It's possible to order 'em for "real cheap" from a couple photo supply places, so a few guys could go in on a dozen or so.

If someone's interested, shoot me a line and I'll dig up my notes on the subject.  Oh, and if you don't shoot me a line and ho ahead and buy...don't get one with flash (might be auto and that's a bad thing for operations)

Photos arrived from Geoff this morning Grin

I haven't made it through all the NATO stuff yet, and haven't touched the EB, but he hooked us up with some very good material.

Now is the test of my supposed skills- picking the shots to put on the flickr.  Some are obvious, but there is a lot of great material in there that's going to take some serious "this one.....or this one" work.  Wow.  That guy's creative- it's really tough to get good shots of a patrol in the woods, and we now have hundreds.

There's definite photo-essay goodness in there, you shall see- I'm sure there's norms somewhere for this sort of stuff (photo-essay goodness will probably be ~250-300 photos)  Gonna work 'em up tomorrow night.

Computer more-r-less fixed.  It fires up, but is running really hot in its new case.  So hot, in fact, that I need to solve the airflow problem before I do anything on it that's heavy on processor cycles.  (It was up to 65ÂșC under 20-30% load!!!)

Anyway, the thing runs again, so after the garden's all set and I've tinkered with the PC, I'll finish the photo project!
