Why not head over and take a look? It's "under construction" at the moment, so ________ *add cliche* http://www.flickr.com/photos/28248345@N08/collections/

My favorite cliche is "go piss up a rope." can we use that one? Excellent job, and more excellent pictures. I swear, everytime I look at the pictures its like I get a little "homesick". I must have had a good time. Much better than the first time around, because when I look at those pictures, I smell, kerosene, mud, sweat and fatigue all at once and I close the picture album rikitik. http://www.flickr.com/photos/28248345@N08/3403701100/in/set-72157615999452864/That pic made me almost piss myself laughing Abica. The look on your face is priceless... "Huh? What do you mean I look tired?...No I'm fine..."

No new pictures were added, but last night and today I started on some organization. Among other things, I've begun adding vehicle, mess, and equipment reference pics to the relevant albums. This will be a boon for first-time visitors and potential recruits. Once everything else is done, I'll start working on the captions. That might take a while I'll also have the first part of a special treat for us- my "eye candy" album is currently in the works back at home. I'm taking the all-time best EW pics (training and operations) and doing 'em up special-like." Gotta do it all at night with the lights off to get everything just right. Who knows, I might separate out film shots into their own folder, since they REALLY look authentic. The others- who knows...b&w, "old poorly processed russian film," "got back from germany and took my stuff to crappy 1 hour photo and look how weird they are 20 years later (got that idea looking at a Marine buddy's photos from Somalia...shitty dyes in the paper I guess)" etc. Nothing will be over-the-top, and it will be the showpiece album for our stuff! Oh, and those aren't gonna be 800px max long side, I'll put up nice high-res ones that fill the screen. Yeah, I'm stoked about that project.

I've done some uploading and basic attempts at organizing. Lots of new stuff is up- about 350 images from Geoff and a few others! Still have some from Houli and CannonFodder to work on, but I'm spent for a couple days. As for the folks who haven't sent me stuff, now would be a great time!

for those who care: nearly all of the Eastbloc pics are up on facebook. I will be putting up the NATO ones soon enough unless someone from NATO would like to instead.

More pictures have been added to the EWII albums. It might be quickest to see all new material through the photostream link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28248345@N08/

I hate when new uploads are made to the photos... Just about the time that I'm thinking I'm "over" Eastwind, more pics come up, and I get all weepy and nostalgic for lack of sleep, and smoking WAY too many cigarettes. For someone who smoked almost a pack of Belamores a day at EWII, I think I've smoked maybe 1 or 2 cigarettes since I got back. Meeeeemories....like the corners of my mind.... For some sick reason, I'm starting to get the itch to go back to the field though.

I really like the look of some of those shots from cannonfodder's disposable camera.

i think they add a nice "from a soldiers poorly financed point of view" look to them. id suggest them to those going next year. and as a plus they are cheap and so every one could carry one out and not feel bad if they fall on it, it gets shot to shit, and/or soaked in rain. allows for hopefully more combat shots. you get hit, pull out your dead rag and take some pics while you bleed out.

Allright, looks like now all I need are Cullen's pics and those from the MEU up north! I'll work on that over the next couple weeks.
Once that's done, I'll burn the DVD photo archive.
I will bring a copy of Geoff's DVD for Swayze this weekend though. (sending myself an email so I don't forget)

Oh! OK. I can make you one to this point if needed, if not I'll get the other stuff into the collection.
Either way is fine with me, let me know.

so i didn't know if it was worth starting a new topic over or not but i just thought it would be cool to maybe track down someone(s) to do a reporter/cameraman role. this would allow for some actual footage and they could just wear "press" shirts
just a thought

We sort of had that last year with Geoff. he did a great job and took some great pics but had a hard time sort of finding his groove around there. I think a press role would be a tough one to fill well in that environment.
