As a past attendee, the earlier the better. I don't know about the NATO camp, but there was plenty of work to be done Friday and Saturday in the Soviet camp.

to pick up comrade Russian, you do not have to go deep into NYC at all. He's literally just over the George Washington Bridge. You could just dip in and out of the city for him.

I'm definitely up for leaving earlier. I don't know if its an option for Russian or not, but I plan to catch a ride to somewhere as convenient as possible to meet the carpool. Without gear even a quick public transit ride could get him closer to their route.
For myself where that is depends on the westward route through PA, if you plan to use the PA Turnpike I76, then right near my home works, if you'd rather I80 a little further north then I can get myself up that way too. I'll need to figure out exact locations but there's still time.

Only at the GWB? I thought he was in Brooklyn... so, awesome! We can just roll in on I-87, swing out on I-95 / the GWB, and boom.
As for shuttling yourself north, snapple, you're around Trenton right? Meeting us on I-80 would only cut about 60 miles off the trip; an hour for you or an hour for us. It would still allow us to reach the destination sooner, however, as well as placing us along the route and appropriate timetable to visit a friend of mine in Youngstown, OH for dinner.
He's also a soviet military enthusiast, so I think he'd get a kick out of us dropping by. I'll talk with him about the possibility.

With just a small bag to change in to uniform right before EW location, I can take a bus across river and meet you in Ft Lee, NJ. Just call me 1,5 hours before arrival. Early start maybe a good idea too.
