I can confirm 110% that snap will need a ride.  All of my leads for a seat for my van have dried up.  It is now a goal to have the seat before EW-VI.  I can definitely take his gear.

I will get on him to coordinate with you for final planning.  I believe he was wanting to confirm you were 100% going before he made his travel plans.

Alright then, gear space will be tight but we can definitely hold four people. Can't leave until Friday though; I'll pack up my own and catch22's gear today and see how much trunk space is left over.

Coop and Spank are traveling in the van, if everyone can link up there, i think Coop was agreed to take gear in to his van. So extra passengers could go with Impuls without luggage.

Yes, I can take luggage, however, I'm leaving New Jersey on Thursday 08MAR2012 at 0500.  Our goal is to get there early/noonish Friday, so we can assist in setup and education.

Perhaps then, Russian and I can arrange a gear transfer over the next weekend or two, SnapCracklePop and I can link up just prior to departure, and the Albany branch can grab Russian in New York, then SCP here in Burlington.  With all the gear and guns with me, that should simplify logistics in transporting people, and splitting gas 4 ways works out great for everyone.  Mr. Spank and I will feed the man van and ensure the safety of the cargo.

If I can score the bench seat, and ensure it's properly installed by then, then I'd love to take at least one more passenger.  Not sure how many days Russian can take off.  I believe SCP is good for the whole 9 days, plus 2 days travel time (and even then, last year we got back on Monday, so in theory one could return to work on Tuesday, although I'm hoping to stay later on Sunday to help with tear down.

As this is kinda sudden, I just want to verify, Russian, that you do have the required gear, or if some special arrangement has been worked out with Tascabe?  I know you tend to lean toward the VDV side of things, while we're all very much Motor Rifles.

No problem getting my gear to Coop as soon as its packed.

What is the timeline looking like for the grand carpool from upstate?  On both ends just to help get a better picture of things.  Thanks again for swinging south and saving me a flight.

Russian, awesome to hear you're coming should make for that much better an event.

I was hoping to leave fairly early Friday MAR09, but my first passenger, Catch22, has an exam for one of his classes that day, which ends at 1400. We'll ship out as soon as possible after that; should be reaching NYC about 1800 depending on delays on our end and traffic on the bridges; i'm sure rush hour is going to be something awful.

Continuing down to Trenton should take about an hour and a half, bringing us to the actual westbound stretch at about 1930 on Friday, and arriving at D-Day, if there are no difficulties, about 24 hours later, 1930 on Saturday. Perhaps just in time to pick up a midnight patrol, or pass out wholeheartedly, depending.

This also means we'll have to leave the field slightly early, as we both have classes Monday and can't come rolling into town early that morning. I'll decide a departure time after we've taken the initial drive and have a better picture of the drive time, but likely it'll be late on Saturday.

I'm estimating gas to be $100 per passenger, round trip.

$100 round trip?
 Shocked

Oh man, can I go in your car?  Huh

Don't worry Coop, I'm not bailing on the ManVanMkII. I'm just envious of their efficient gas consumption. Very envious...  Angry

If we could fit in their car, and they could tow the ManVanMkII in Neutral, that would be most ideal!  Grin

Next year... 1 van... 5 Soviets... way too much Kvas... we're not gonna stop when we get there, just drive around those hills with the doors and windows open, blasting at NATO for 9 days straight.  We'll be like the Soviet A-Team.

Should I assume that my passengers would like some Russian CDs for glorious roadtrip?

I wouldn't complain if the immersion starts early, I'd say drivers choice is probably the safest solution.

My buddy's exam got postponed; it's no longer Friday March 9 at noon... which means that options of leaving earlier are open, if our passengers desire. I'd certainly like to avoid driving through NYC at 5pm. Tentatively considering leaving here about 9am Friday, which would mean arriving at D-Day about noon Saturday.
