Sleeping Pad

• Sleeping pad must be GI issue, either USGI Therm-A-Rest pad, period correct private purchase Thermarest pad or the older USGI Ensolite foam. Also popular with squaddies was the folding German pads since they are much more convenient to manage than the roll mats. Be advised that the German mats are insulation only and not spongy comfort like the typical roll foam mat.
• Yes, this is a requirement. This is not a "comfort" item as much as it is to insulate you from the cold ground. I promise you that your body heat is not enough to warm up the entire earth.
